Facial Redness and Rosacea

Not all facial redness is the same.

Whether you are experiencing persistent facial redness, flushing, visible facial vessels, or rosacea-related changes, we begin with a careful assessment of your skin. Understanding the pattern and possible causes of your redness helps us recommend a treatment plan designed for your individual skin.

Proudly serving Qualicum Beach, Parksville, Nanaimo, and across Vancouver Island.

TREATMENT IS NEVER ONE-SIZE-FITS-ALL

Why can facial redness be difficult to treat?

Facial redness can have many possible causes, including rosacea, sun damage, skin sensitivity, inflammation, acne, and small visible blood vessels. These concerns can look similar on the surface, but they do not necessarily respond to the same treatment.
Some redness is temporary and triggered by heat, exercise, weather, skincare products, spicy foods, or alcohol. Other redness may become persistent over time. Identifying the pattern of your redness is an important first step toward choosing appropriate care.

why an assessment matters

Every plan at Pacifica MD starts with a proper assessment. Your consultation gives us the opportunity to discuss your symptoms, triggers, health history, skincare routine, and previous treatments.

Our skin analysis, including VISIA imaging when appropriate, helps us document visible redness, uneven skin tone, and vascular-looking areas beneath the surface.

Because a VISIA scan does not diagnose rosacea or determine the medical cause of redness, we combine this information with a careful consultation before recommending treatment.

Could BBL HEROic™ or ClearSilk® be an option for your skin?

BBL HEROic™ uses controlled pulses of broadband light to address the appearance of diffuse redness and small visible facial vessels. ClearSilk® gently delivers laser energy into the skin and may be recommended for flushing, persistent redness, rosacea-related redness, and overall skin revitalization.

Depending on your personal skin concerns and treatment goals, these technologies may be used individually, or as part of a personalized treatment plan.

Little to no downtime for many patients

Rosacea is a chronic condition, and light or laser treatment does not permanently “cure” it. BBL HEROic™ and ClearSilk® are also not appropriate for every cause of facial redness or every skin type. This is why we always perform a complete consultation and skin assessment before recommending treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Facial redness may be caused by rosacea, sun exposure, skin sensitivity, inflammation, acne, irritation, or small dilated blood vessels near the surface of the skin. Rosacea commonly causes flushing or persistent redness across the cheeks, nose, chin, or forehead, and some people also develop visible facial vessels, bumps, dryness, burning, or stinging.

Common rosacea triggers can include sunlight, temperature changes, heat, exercise, strong emotions, spicy foods, alcohol, and irritating skincare products. Triggers vary considerably from person to person, which is why an individual assessment is important.

Not every red face or visible facial vessel is rosacea. Persistent, unexplained, painful, or rapidly changing redness may require assessment by a medical professional.

Pacifica MD offers personalized treatment options for facial redness, rosacea-related redness, flushing, and small visible facial vessels. Depending on your skin and the nature of your concerns, your treatment plan may include BBL HEROic™ broadband light, ClearSilk® laser treatment, medical-grade skincare, or a combination of approaches.

BBL HEROic™ can target the appearance of superficial redness and small visible vessels, while ClearSilk® may help improve diffuse redness, flushing, and overall skin quality. Your recommended treatment is selected after a consultation and skin analysis based on your symptoms, skin type, treatment history, and goals.

Because redness can have different causes, treatment results and the number of sessions required will vary. Rosacea is generally managed rather than permanently cured, and ongoing skincare, sun protection, trigger awareness, and maintenance treatments may form part of your long-term plan.
