Fees and Membership

Although BHRT is evidence-based, it is considered “alternative and complementary” medicine, and therefore not covered by the Medical Services Plan of BC. Our fees are designed to make this essential service accessible to all who need it.

Fee Breakdown:

BHRT Initiation Fee

$795.00 + GST, which includes your personalized consultation with Dr. Crisci. The fee is due at the time of the consultation appointment booking. Please note that initial lab work testing, which depends on your medical history, symptoms or areas of health concerns, is not included and can vary between $0 and $800+GST.

Monthly Membership Fee

$79.00 + GST, includes all follow-up appointments, and basic hormone monitoring via Lifelabs, and more!

Prescription Cost

Typical monthly cost, if not covered by your extended health insurance, can vary between $80 to $300 per month.

Membership drops to $64 + GST per month in year two!

If you’re uncertain, we encourage you to participate in one of Dr. Crisci’s webinars or educational events (see above). These sessions provide valuable insights into her clinical approach, which is highly evidence-based, and can help clarify any questions you may have.

When you schedule your consultation, you will need to complete an intake questionnaire. This is a crucial step that enables Dr. Crisci to assess your eligibility for Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) and her practice. Please ensure that you fill out this questionnaire promptly and accurately. After reviewing your answers, Dr. Crisci will reach out for further clarification if necessary, discuss any recommended testing and their associated costs, or inform you if she determines that you are not a suitable candidate to join her practice. Once accepted, you will receive the first invoice which will include the BHRT Initiation fee and any applicable initial testing.

Dr. Crisci offers consultation and follow-up appointments in person, by video or over the phone. Lab testing can be done at your local Lifelabs location, anywhere in BC.

The BHRT membership is designed to make treatment costs more affordable and predictable for patients over time.

Monthly Payments:
First year: $79 + GST per month
Subsequent years: $64 + GST per month
Pay for a year in a single payment, and get 10% off:
First year: $850.00 + GST
Subsequent years: $695.00 + GST

It includes:
– All follow-up visits (valued at $295+GST each).
– Basic hormone testing through Lifelabs, as deemed necessary by Dr. Crisci (normal cost up to $500+GST depending on what is being tested)
– Lifelabs administration fee.

– Significantly reduced pelleting fee

The membership does not cover:
– Optional tests recommended by Dr. Crisci, such as salivary cortisol or heavy metal toxicity.
– Imaging services.
– Pelleting (subcutaneous hormone implant insertions).
– The cost of medications or supplements.

The membership ensures a more affordable and predictable cost to BHRT. Opting for a full-year membership (as opposed to monthly) provides an approximate 10% savings! We have implemented a standardized compensation model for all our patients. If you prefer a practice that operates on an a la carte billing system, we encourage you to explore other clinics.

Pellets are small subcutaneous implants that we sometimes use to achieve more stable hormone levels. Pellets are just one of several options for hormone replacement therapy. The advantages, advantages, risks and benefits of each method of hormone replacement will be reviewed with you in detail at the time of your consultation, so you can make an informed choice.

No, there is no contract required. You can cancel your membership at any time by providing 30 days’ notice. However, once you cancel, you will no longer be part of Dr. Crisci’s practice. If you have paid for the whole year with a yearly membership the unused portion of months will be refunded to you.

No, MSP does not cover these services or associated testing because they are categorized as alternative and complementary therapies, which are not considered medically necessary. Additionally, there are provincial restrictions preventing physicians from ordering certain hormone levels or tests for patients. They will only get processed if they are paid for privately.

Extended health insurance typically does not cover the fees associated with Dr. Crisci’s care. However, some laboratory tests and investigations may be eligible for reimbursement. It’s advisable to contact your extended health representative for specific coverage details. Prescription medications are generally covered as they would be for any medical doctor’s prescription. Coverage for compounded versus commercially available medications may vary depending on your extended health plan.

Dr. Crisci does not exclusively prescribe bioidentical hormones. For hormone replacement therapy, she prefers bioidentical hormones, which are molecularly identical to those produced by the body. She typically recommends Health Canada-approved, commercially available bioidentical options when possible. As such options are frequently unavailable, she may prescribe compounded medications using bioidentical hormones. Dr. Crisci also prescribes non-hormonal medications and therapies as needed.

The first appointment is so that Dr. Crisci can determine if you’re a suitable candidate for our practice. You’ll complete a brief questionnaire about your symptoms and health interests beforehand.

If you choose to proceed, you will be sent the $795+GST BHRT Initiation Fee invoice, which covers initial labs and a 45-minute personalized consultation with Dr. Crisci. (This consult is available via video or phone for BC residents outside our area).
You’ll also receive a comprehensive intake questionnaire, and your first lab requisition, which you can perform at your local Lifelabs location anywhere in BC. Your consultation with Dr. Crisci will follow, marking the beginning of your health journey.
