As we age our sex hormone production decreases, which in turn affects our mood, energy levels, sex drive and overall well-being. Some patients are mainly concerned about their sex hormones or gonadal function and wish to have it assessed and optimized as they mature, reach perimenopause, menopause or andropause.
Testing will include testosterone and estradiol, amongst others.
This will include not only an assessment of your sex hormones, mainly testosterone and estradiol, but it also includes an in-depth look at your thyroid function by looking at more specialized thyroid function tests, including free T3, free T4 and an iodine panel. Iodine is an essential mineral that helps the body make thyroid hormones. Iodine deficiency is a growing concern worldwide. With Level 2 we will also assess your vitamin D levels. Deficiency of this vitamin, which is a hormone, is also common and affects bone health, immunity, some chronic diseases and types of cancer.
If you have signs and symptoms of a low functioning thyroid, and despite your TSH being in the ‘normal’ range, and are concerned about your vitamin D levels, this one’s for you!
Beyond the assessment of sex hormones, thyroid function, vitamin D this Level looks at the HPA (the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal) axis and the diurnal cortisol rhythm. Cortisol is our stress hormone. If you are struggling with excessive anxiety, inability to quiet your mind, always feeling ‘on-edge’, this deeper look into your hormonal balance is for you.
With this Level we look not only at your sex hormones, perform an in-depth thyroid assessment, examine your diurnal cortisol rhythm and HPA axis, vitamin B12 and D levels, we will also complete a full cardiometabolic profile (fasting lipids, hsCRP), and toxic (heavy metal) and essential elements testing. Toxic elements and/or a lack of essential elements can significantly increase your risk of developing conditions like dementia, infertility, diabetes and cancer. They are also known to cause damage to the liver, kidneys and brain, as well as the cardiovascular, nervous and endocrine systems.
The cost of hormone subcutaneous pelletting, if required, is not included. Please contact us for pricing or to obtain more information
